In the anticipation of the upcoming “Scream 7” due to hit theaters tomorrow, Kevin Williamson & Neve Campbell are already talking about “Scream 8.” The two are talking! Which makes us very excited since the two of them helped launch the super successful Scream franchise 30 years ago. Jeez has it really been 30 years?
During the Wednesday world premiere of Scream 7, Williamson told Deadline that he and Campbell began “spit-balling” the next movie while they worked on the current sequel.
“When you’re sitting on the set at 3:00 in the morning, you’re like, ‘Well, what would Scream 8 be about?’ And you just start spit-balling,”
“And Neve had this great idea, and everyone seemed to run with it So yeah, if this movie works and people want it, we’re here for the fans. So, if they want it, we’ll certainly give it to them.”
Williamson to Deadline
Now what that means we have no idea. But it DOES mean if Scream 7 does well enough, they are going to put out an 8th film.

Scream 7 will be following the same outline as previous films, with a new twist of course. When a new Ghostface killer emerges in the quiet town where Sidney has built a new life, her darkest fears are realized as her daughter becomes the next target. Determined to protect her family, she must face the horrors of her past to put an end to the bloodshed once and for all.
There is a RUMOR going around, and it’s very important we specify that this is only a rumor at this point, that the 7th film could* launch a new trilogy.
Recently, Neve Campbell acknowledged a theory surrounding a potential Ghostface suspect that could be realized in an eighth movie. In an interview, The Lincoln Lawyer actress agreed with the theory that Courteney Cox’s Gale Weathers was incredibly suspicious as she showed up around the same time as the masked serial killer.

So what does this all mean? It means you should definitely go see Scream 7 if you’re hoping for an 8th film. And even more so if you want to see them come up with a new trilogy for the franchise.
