Rob Lowe (Jokingly) Wants Credit For His Work on “Tommy Boy”

Brat Pack alum Rob Lowe has taken to social media to demand credit for his role in “Tommy Boy.” 30 years after the fact, Lowe is imploring David Ellison, CEO of Paramount Skydance, to correct his predecessor’s injustice. Lowe demands his rightful place next to co-stars David Spade and the late Chris Farley!

He is clearly joking, but the post is pretty cute. It reads:

“An Open Letter to David Ellison-

    Re: industry challenges

    David,

Among the long-standing, important and unresolved issues, I urge you to consider my lack of a credit in Tommy Boy. This atrocity was perpetrated by a previous regime, and is a known stain on the Paramount legacy. I, and others, urge you to be on the right side of history and rectify this heinous act, with the addition of: “and Rob Lowe as Paul” above title.

Thank you for your attention to this matter!

However, Peter Segal, director of the 1995 buddy picture, says Lowe refused credit.

“It was his choice,” he told Remind magazine in March 2025. “Maybe he thought the movie was going to tank and wanted to distance himself. I don’t know. But he is now haunted by that same question.”

So, which is it, Lowe? Did you get a credit snatched away from you for “Tommy Boy,” or did you not want it? We can play along with a joke too!

You can read Lowe’s X post below:
