In 1990, Sam Raimi (“Evil Dead”) wrote and directed “Darkman,” based on the comic series of the same name. In the film, a brilliant scientist (Liam Neeson) is hellbent on revenge after being burned alive and left for dead. Now, “Don’t Move” directors Brian Netto and Adam Schindler will be joining the franchise and directing the next installment!

Raim first worked with the duo on the series “50 States of Fright,” which was created for the short-lived Quibi platform. This led the filmmaker and his frequent collaborator, Ghost House Pictures, to produce their film “Don’t Move” for Netflix.
In 2024, Netto and Schindler said that they were gunning to make something in the “Darkman” universe.
“If we’re talking Sam-related, it’s Darkman,” Schindler told The Hollywood Reporter. “We talked about Darkman [with him]. We’ve got a love and an affinity for Darkman.”
“Darkman was my favorite film for a good portion of my life,” Netto adds. “It was the movie, so Darkman would be really interesting.”
Raimi has since confirmed that the duo will be behind the upcoming film.
“Ghost House Pictures, the company I work with, is trying to make it right now,” Raimi told Movieweb. “We have a script and two great directors, but we still have some difficulties with the financing. It always happens the same in the movie business.”
The first film spawned 2 sequels, 1995’s “Darkman II: The Return of Durant” and 1996’s “Darkman III: Die Darkman Die.”
It’s unclear at this time if this will be a reboot or another addition to the franchise.
We’ll keep you posted on updates about this new “Darkman” film as the project develops.
