Filmmaker and fashion icon Tom Ford hasn’t sat in the director’s chair for almost a decade at this point. Thankfully, that will all change with his upcoming adaptation of the late Anne Rice’s 1982 novel “Cry to Heaven!”
Ford will write, direct, and produce under his Fade To Black production company.
“Cry to Heaven” has already attracted and all-star cast including Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor Johnson, Adele (making her film debut), Ciarán Hinds, George MacKay, Mark Strong, Colin Firth, Paul Bettany, Owen Cooper, Daniel Quinn-Toye, Hunter Schafer, Josephine Thiesen, Thandiwe Newton, Theodore Pellerin, Daryl McCormack, Cassian Bilton, Hauk Hannemann, and Lux Pascal.
While plot details are still under wraps, the novel is set in the 18th century. It follows a nobleman from Venice and a castrati singer from Calabria. This unlikely duo is brought together by their drive to succeed in the world of opera.
Ford will be self-financing the film. At this time, it’s believed he will take it to market after production has wrapped. “Cry to Heaven” is currently in pre-production in London and Rome.
We’ll keep you posted on updates about “Cry to Heaven” as the project develops.
