Happy Godzilla Day to all who celebrate! Toho Studios has already given us a huge bit of Kaiju news. Director Takashi Yamazaki is helming a sequel for his Oscar-winning “Godzilla Minus One,” called “Godzilla Minus Zero!” Like the first film, the title is also being stylized as “Godzilla -0.0.”
The title was announced by the studio during a celebration event in Tokyo earlier this morning. Toho even revealed a teaser logo and some first-look artwork for the film.

Production on “Godzilla Minus Zero” is set to begin later this year in New Zealand and Norway. However, the cast and crew outside of Yamazaki are still under wraps.
Yamazaki’s “Godzilla Minus One” set huge records for the long running franchise. It raked in $113 million worldwide on a budget of $15 million, and the critics adored the film as well. It was the first Godzilla title to take home an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects. “Minus One” also nabbed the title of the all-time top-grossing live-action Japanese film in North America.
“Godzilla Minus Zero” is currently slated for release in late 2026.
