During last year’s D23, it was announced that Walt Disney World Resort would be getting an all-new “Monsters, Inc.” rollercoaster. The park has since released some really cool animatronic footage of what the loading station will look like. It will also be the first-ever suspended coaster at a Disney Park, and the first-ever vertical lift!

An entire area of the park, dubbed Monstropolis, will bring beloved characters like James P. Sullivan and Mike Wazowski to life. This rollercoaster will recreate the doors system seen in the “Monsters, Inc.” films.

“Imagineers have been itching to turn that moment into an attraction ever since we saw it for the first time,” Imagineer Michael Hundgen teased.

Most of the ride’s details are being kept under wraps, but the team was too excited to keep this secret. Riders will board on the vehicle before being hoisted into the air, like in the film, to zoom into the door vault. It will be, “an experience that’s as memorable and fun as the film,” Hundgen adds.

“I can tell you that everyone at Pixar is excited about how this is coming together,” Pete Docter, Pixar Chief Creative Officer, said. “It really is like a dream come true for us.”

We’ll keep you posted on updates about Monstropolis as the project develops. You can check out the test footage below:
