It’s been 13 years since Riddick has graced the big or small screen, and fans were beginning to give up hope. Thankfully Riddick himself, Vin Diesel, has confirmed “Riddick: Furya” is in production! How else could he have gotten this cool behind-the-scenes photo?

Diesel posted the image of himself decked out in Riddick gear, complete with his signature sunglasses, to Instagram. In the photo, he faces what is clearly a bustling film set.

“So much to share… iconic stories that all resonate with something deep inside,” the picture’s caption reads. “A global audience who has literally been the blessing of this artist’s life. Groot’s return in the Arbor King, that infamous New York Detective, Kaulder’s Oath, Xander’s next adventure in Mumbai, Street racers reunited in LA, and of course, the Furyan…”

    “Grateful for you all…”

    “Hope to make you proud…”

Franchise staple David Twohy is returning to direct “Furya” and co-write the script with Riddick veterans Jim Wheat and Ken Wheat. This will be the fourth film in the franchise and will take place more on the titular characters’ home planet than in previous installments. Unfortunately, it’s a place he barely remembers and fears might be left in ruins. But when he finds other Furyans, they are fighting for their existence against a brand new enemy.

There is no set release date for “Riddick: Furya,” just yet. We’ll keep you posted on updates about the project as it develops. All three feature-length, live-action films are currently streaming on CrunchyRoll.
