“Back to the Future” Gets 40th Anniversary Re-Release, 4K Boxset

There are very few franchises that are as beloved as “Back to the Future.” The trilogy of films from Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale stand as one of the most endearing set of films to ever be released and more so, not milked for nostalgia. Zemeckis and Gale have remained firm on not rebooting or reinventing the franchise. That doesn’t mean that there aren’t new ways to enjoy it though. On the year of the original film’s 40th anniversary, Universal is rolling out some stuff for fans, including a new media boxset, and a theatrical re-release.

The adventures of Marty McFly and Doc Brown are timeless. But if you weren’t around in 1985 to enjoy the music of Huey Lewis & The News, use terms like “heavy” in casual conversation, or drive a Delorean, then you also likely haven’t seen “Back to the Future” on the big screen.

You can get your chance October 31st when it gets a Dolby Cinema, 4DX and D-Box showing at participating theaters.

If you don’t want to hit out to the cinema but still want to relive the time travelling adventures that will take you from 1985, to 2015, to 1885, and back again, you can do it with an all new 40th Anniversary boxset. This beast of a collection has all three films on 4K Ultra HD, Blue-ray, and digital. It’s packaged in a Flux Capacitor steelbook and has other accessories like a mini-Gibson guitar replica and an OUTATIME license plate. There’s other fun things too like a “Jaws 19” movie poster and a copy of the Western Union letter that Doc sends to Marty.

You can pick up the new 4K gift set on Amazon here, and the “Back to the Future II” set here.
