The “Rambo” prequel film “John Rambo” is full speed ahead on development. Noah Centineo (“Warfare”) is now attached to play a younger version of Sylvester Stallone’s iconic character. It will be directed by Jalmari Helander (“Sisu”) from a screenplay by Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani. The same writing duo behind 2022’s “Black Adam.”

Specific plot details for “John Rambo” are under wraps, but it will be the character’s origin story. Despite his long standing connections to the character, Stallone has no involvement in this project but is aware of it. The movie is slated to begin shooting sometime next year.

The “Rambo” franchise kicked off in 1982 with “First Blood” based on David Morrell’s 1972 novel of the same name. It tells the story of a troubled Vietnam War veteran and former U.S. Army Special Forces Soldier. He is also an expert in weaponry, hand-to-hand combat, and guerrilla warfare.

“First Blood,” spawned four sequels 1985’s “Rambo: First Blood Part II,” 1988’s “Rambo III, 2008’s “Rambo,” and 2019’s “Rambo: Last Blood.”

We’ll keep you posted on updates about “John Rambo” as the project develops. All five of the original films are currently available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
