Sarah Jessica Parker Gives Surprising “Hocus Pocus 3” Update

In 1993, “Hocus Pocus” hit theaters, and in 2022, after decades of fans begging, Disney gave us a sequel. When “Hocus Pocus 2” was an instant hit, the studio announced a third film was on the way. Then, as these things often go, silence.

Star Sarah Jessica Parker provided a rather anticlimactic update on July 13th, but it appears the project is still expected to move forward.

During an appearance on Andy Cohen‘s “Watch What Happens Live,” two fans asked about rumors that the film would begin shooting soon.

“No more developments other than we would like to do it,” Parker responded. “We would like to do it, and we’ve been having some conversations.”

While it’s not clear who “we” is referring to, it’s believed she’s talking about co-stars Bette Midler and Kathy Najimy. There have been rumors of other legacy cast members returning, but nothing has been confirmed at this time.

    Possible Plot

When the project was first announced, writer Jen D’Angelo threw out some ideas for the third film.  “We’re still in the story phase, we’re still working on it,” D’Angelo told Entertainment Weekly. “We’ve been working on some ideas, and it’s been fun to dive back into that world, and we have so many directions in which to go and so many new characters to explore. We’ve only scratched the surface of Hannah Waddingham’s mother witch.”

This early into development, there is no set release window for “Hocus Pocus 3.” Given that Parker just crushed the rumors, it will begin rolling soon. We’ll keep you posted on updates about the project as it develops.
