3-time Emmy winner Keith David (“They Live”) has been in entertainment for over 45 years, with over 400 credits for acting alone. It was just confirmed that next year, he’d be receiving a long-overdue star on the legendary Hollywood Walk of Fame. David shared the news with his fans via a heartwarming video of him hearing the announcement.

“What a surprise! Being blessed to get to do this for a living is enough for me; to be recognized for my contribution to the arts is the cherry on top.🙏🏿Thank you, Hollywood Walk of Fame & Hollywood Chamber for this honor. This will be a wonderful birthday present next year,” the Tony Award nominee posted on his X (formally Twitter).
The attached video shows him sitting in a desk chair, watching as the list of 2026 inductees is read. He nods along in support of his fellow actors’ success. Then his name is read aloud, and his face turns to complete shock. A voice off-screen says, “Happy 70th birthday.”
David gets out a simple “Oh my god” before he starts crying tears of joy. Eventually, his wife, Dionne Lea Williams, comes into frame, kissing him and giving him a hug.
The Career Of Keith David (So Far)
David received his first Emmy in 2005 for Outstanding Voice-Over Performance in PBS’s “Unforgivable Blackness: The Rise And Fall Of Jack Johnson.” Followed by wins in 2008 for narrating “The War” docu series for PBS and the 2016 “Jackie Robinson” docu series.
Some of his other credits include the series “Gargoyles,” “Family Guy,” “American Dad,” “Rick and Morty,” and “Community.” (He has, sadly, confirmed he will not be in the upcoming “Community” movie.) His film credits include 1982’s “The Thing,” 1998’s “Armageddon,” 2004’s “Crash,” and 2009’s “The Princess and the Frog.”
David will join the Hollywood Walk of Fame alongside Timothée Chalamet, Miley Cyrus, Chris Columbus, Marion Cotillard, Rachel McAdams, Demi Moore, Franco Nero, Deepika Padukone, Molly Ringwald, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci.
We’ll keep you posted on updates about these Hollywood Walk of Fame induction ceremonies as they become available. In the meantime, you can watch David finding out he has been nominated:
