Everyone’s favorite trouble-making feline is back in action! Dr. Seuss’s beloved 1957 children’s book “The Cat in the Hat” is getting a new animated feature film adaptation. This will be the book’s second attempt at the big screen following the 2003 live-action version starring Mike Myers which flopped.
The glimpses we’ve gotten so far seem a lot more promising.

The film is being co-written and co-directed by Alessandro Carloni (“Kung Fu Panda”) and Erica Rivinoja (“Clone High”). Bill Hader (“IF”) is voicing the titular role, with America Ferrara (“Barbie”), Xochitl Gomez (“Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness”), and Quinta Brunson (“Abbott Elementary”). Alongside Bowen Yang (“Saturday Night Live”), Matt Berry (“A Minecraft Movie”), Paula Pell (“Big Mouth”), Tituss Burgess (“Snow White”), and Giancarlo Esposito (“The Residence”).
Animation for “The Cat in the Hat” is being done by DNEG Animation. The same company behind “Nimona” and “That Christmas.”
“The Cat in the Hat” is currently slated to hit theaters on February 26th, 2026. We’ll keep you posted on updates about the project as it develops. In the meantime, you can check out the first trailer below:
