If you are a fan of Andy Weir‘s amazing book “The Martian,” chances are you’ve also read his two followup novels- “Artemis,” and “Project Hail Mary.” The latter of those is actually getting a feature film adaptation from Christopher Miller and Phil Lord (“The LEGO Movie,” “Spider-Verse“), which will star Ryan Gosling!
The first trailer for the film hit this morning, and we are so excited!!

Without getting into any kind of spoiler territory, Gosling will play Ryland Grace, a middleschool teacher-turned-astronaut who is on a mission to save Earth. He is pretty much humanity’s last ditch hope- a Hail Mary play, if you will. He is alone on this particular space trip, or IS he?

Oscar nominee Sandra Hüller (“Anatomy of a Fall“), and Milana Vayntrub (“Die Hart“) also star.
Lord and Miller are directing from a script by Drew Goddard, who also wrote the script for Ridley Scott‘s “The Martian” adaptation.
Science teacher Ryland Grace (Ryan Gosling) wakes up on a spaceship light years from home with no recollection of who he is or how he got there. As his memory returns, he begins to uncover his mission: solve the riddle of the mysterious substance causing the sun to die out. He must call on his scientific knowledge and unorthodox ideas to save everything on Earth from extinction… but an unexpected friendship means he may not have to do it alone.
“Project Hail Mary” hits theaters on March 20th, 2026. (Speaking of Amazon, if you need copies of Weir’s works, here you go! And/or the 4K of “The Martian,” extended edition here.)
