We have some good news for all the “MobLand” fans out there. Paramount+ has renewed the crime drama for a second season! The show debuted on the streamer in March and ended its first season on June 1st.

This renewal isn’t much of a shock, though. Paramount claims the first episode of “MobLand” has pulled in 26 million viewers since its debut. Making it the streamer’s second most watched original series of all time, with the first being “Landman.”

    More “MobLand”

The series follows the Harrigans, a London crime family, and their fixer, Harry Da Souza (Tom Hardy). Their various illegal endeavors keep them at constant odds with law enforcement and other criminal outfits.

“Mobland” is created and written by Ronan Bennett and Jez Butterworth, with Guy Ritchie directing the first two episodes. The cast includes Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren, Paddy Considine, Joanne Froggatt, Lara Pulver, Anson Boon, Mandeep Dhillon, Jasmine Jobson, Geoff Bell, Daniel Betts, Lisa Dwan, and Emily Barber.

“TV was a brand new world for me and I was reluctant to commit to a TV overall, but Chris, David, and the teams at Paramount and 101 Studios, completely changed my perspective with their bold creative vision and razor-sharp strategic insight,” says Butterworth. “Collaborating with Chris, David, Guy and our stellar cast has been nothing short of inspiring and I’m excited to dive into the second season of ‘MobLand.’”

“With more than 26 million viewers and climbing, MobLand has become a resounding triumph – driven by the creative brilliance of Guy, Jez, Ronan and David Glasser, and brought to life by the powerhouse performances of Tom, Pierce, and Helen,” said Chris McCarthy, Co-CEO of Paramount and President of Showtime/MTV Entertainment. “We are elated to greenlight a second season of this global phenomenon, which has dominated both domestic and international charts and soared to #1 in the UK.”

We’ll keep you posted on updates about the second season of “MobLand” as the project develops. You can watch the first season on Paramount+ now.
