Daniel Craig may no longer be James Bond, but he is still very much Benoit Blanc. The talented detective with a southern drawl has already cracked two cases in “Knives Out” and “Glass Onion,” and now he’s going for round three. If you expected Netflix’s teaser for the upcoming film to drop some kind of hint as to what to expect this time around, you may find more questions than answers.

“Wake Up Dead Man” – Netflix

Writer and director Rian Johnson has already shown his strong love of serialized mysteries by way of his previous two Benoit Blanc pictures, not to mention his series “Poker Face” which is currently in the middle of its second season. This teaser leans into that mystique with a slow pan up a church and the quote, “The wicked desire the stronghold of evildoers, but the root of the righteous endures.” It’s Proverbs 12:12 and God (or Blanc) only knows if that’s a hint into itself. Or maybe the hint lies in the song the film title is referencing, “Wake Up Dead Man,” by U2.

Yup, Rian loves his song titles. “Knives Out” was Radiohead, “Glass Onion” was The Beatles, and now we’re at U2. Rian also loves Star studded ensemble casts, and this film is no joke exception to that. Joining Craig are Glenn Close, Thomas Haden Church, Jeremy Renner, Mila Kunis, Kerry Washington and more. And if it’s anything like the previous films, Blanc may be the chief detective, but the story will heavily revolve around another character’s journey into murder and mystery.

“Wake Up Dead Man” doesn’t have a firm release date, but it’s expected to be released on Netflix sometime later this year. This also would reportedly mark the conclusion of a two-picture deal that Johnson had with Netflix to deliver them a pair of “Knives Out” sequels, so we’ll also have to see where the series goes from here.

We expect to hear more about this and other Netflix projects this weekend during their Tudum event. Check out the teaser now:
