Jason Momoa, Roman Reigns in Talks to Star in “Street Fighter” Film

The tale of Legendary’s upcoming Street Fighter film has been up and down more times than a fighter who keeps getting knocked down to the mat. We started reporting on this project in 2023 when Capcom announced they would be partnering with Legendary Pictures to produce a live-action adaptation of the beloved fighting game saga. There have already been two different directors with no announcements about a script or a cast. Until Sony removed it from their release schedule entirely. We still don’t know when it’s coming out but hey, we have reports about a cast!

    Jason Momoa “Fast X” Universal

Four actors are currently in talks to star, though their roles have not been revealed. Arguably the biggest of the four is Jason Momoa. With his imposing figure and physique, he seems a natural pick to join the fighting fray, not to mention his acting chops have been on full display in Apple TV+‘s upcoming “Chief of War.” Rumors are he may be playing Blanka.

Roman Reigns is also reportedly on board. The wrestler-turned-actor also seems like a natural pick for a film based on fighting, given his background in the WWE. In terms of his film work, he’d mostly be remembered for his role as Mateo Hobbs, one of the two titular characters in the movie, “Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw.”

Andrew Koji plays Tommy in Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins from Paramount Pictures, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures and Skydance.

A slightly more outside the box pick is Noah Centineo. His highest profile roles have come from playing Atom Smasher in “Black Adam.” He’ll also be joined by Andrew Koji, an actor and martial artist who appeared in 2022’s “Bullet Train,” and the criminally underrated Cinemax series, “Warrior.” It’s an overall interesting mix of distinct characters and personalities, which is pretty much exactly what every Street Fighter game has showcased in its roster of fighters.

Without any knowledge of a script or what direction the film is going in, we don’t have any idea if the movie is going to focus on the most well-known group of fighters from “Street Fighter II,” or if they’re going to go into the larger universe and feature characters from the more recent outings or the Alpha series. As we get more information, we’ll continue to update you. But at the very least, this is something positive to report about the film after months of wondering what the hell was going on!
