“Sinners” Star Miles Caton Wants to Play MCU Miles Morales

Between a booming music career and his acting debut in Ryan Coogler’s “Sinners” it seems that Miles Caton is on top of the world. In the new film Caton stars as guitar player Sammie “Preacher Boy” Moore, opposite Michael B. Jordan (“Black Panther”) as Eric Killmonger. Now the young actor/musician is setting his sights on the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

During a recent interview, Caton was asked what he’d like to do next in terms of acting.

“I love comedy. Action. Adventure,” he told Variety. “I’m a big Marvel fan. Marvel, that’s top of the top, so shooting for the stars.”

When asked if he has a specific MCU character in mind; “I mean, my name is Miles…”

    All About Miles

So Caton isn’t being so subtitled about gunning for Miles Morales. The character was introduced into Marvel Comics in 2011 and quickly became a beloved part of the “Spider-Man” mythos. Like most comic book characters, there have been several versions of Miles but he is typically Aaron Davis’ kind-hearted, music-loving, awkward nephew.

A live-action version of the character was teased in 2017’s “Spider-Man: Homecoming” when Aaron (Donald Glover) mentions his nephew. While it does still sound like Marvel has every intention of bringing him into the live-action side of the universe. There is little mention of him outside of comics and animated films.

Caton’s obvious prowess for both music and acting makes him a strong candidate to take on the role. Miles is also slightly younger than Spider-Man/Peter Parker (Tom Holland). Given that Canton is 20 and Holland is 28, he is roughly the perfect age for the part too.

Only time will tell if we get to see Miles Caton’s take on Miles Morales. For now you can see him in “Sinners” playing in theaters nationwide. You can check out the trailer below:
