Filmmaker Mike Flanagan (“Doctor Sleep”) is still on his one-man crusade to adapt everything from horror legend Stephen King, including his non-horror titles. Neon has just released the first trailer for Flanagan’s adaptation of King’s “The Life of Chuck,” starring Tom Hiddleston (“Loki”).

Based on a short story, “The Life of Chuck” is told in reverse, following Chuck Krantz’s (Hiddleston) life starting with his death and ending with his early childhood. Unlike the duo’s usual fare, this one has no carnage or gore. Just swelling music and tear-jerking moments.

Hiddleston stars alongside Benjamin Pajak, Jacob Tremblay, and Cody Flanagan as different versions of Chuck. Mia Sara and Mark Hamill play his grandparents. Chiwetel Ejiofor and Karen Gillan portray divorcees Marty and Felicia, whose lives are ripped apart by the mystery of Chuck. The whole affair is narrated by Nick Offerman‘s dulcet tones.

The cast also includes Matthew Lillard, Carl Lumbly, Samantha Sloyan, Harvey Guillén, Kate Siegel, Q’orianka Kilcher, David Dastmalchian, Rahul Kohli, Heather Langenkamp, Michael Trucco, Molly C. Quinn, Lauren LaVera, Antonio Raul Corbo, Trinity Bliss, Violet McGraw, Taylor Gordon, Hamish Linklater, Matt Biedel, Suriyan Sapkota, Saidah Arrika Ekulona, and Scott Wampler.

The film is directed and edited by Flanagan from a script he co-wrote with King.

“The Life of Chuck” hits theaters on June 6th, 2025. You can check out the film’s first trailer below:
