ICYMI: Get Ready to Steal the “Fountain of Youth”

It’s been a hot minute since we’ve had our last great original action-adventure film, but “Fountain of Youth” is looking to quench that thirst. Guy Ritchie has put together an all-star cast for what looks like an absurdist, self-serious adventure film that gives something like “National Treasure” vibes meets “Uncharted” with a pinch of “Indiana Jones” and we’re kind of here for it?

Natalie Portman, John Krasinski, Domhnall Gleeson, Carmen Ejogo and Laz Alonso in “Fountain of Youth,” premiering May 23, 2025 on Apple TV+.

    The official synopsis is:

“Fountain of Youth” follows two estranged siblings (John Krasinski and Academy Award winner Natalie Portman) who partner on a global heist to find the mythological Fountain of Youth. They must use their knowledge of history to follow clues on an epic adventure that will change their lives … and possibly lead to immortality.

It also stars Eiza González, Domhnall Gleeson, Arian Moayed, Laz Alonso, Carmen Ejogo, and Stanley Tucci.

This feels like quite the different vibe from Ritchie, who has attempted to corner the hard hitting crime thriller genre. Though absurdist this feels like his most earnest (and least violent) film since “Sherlock Holmes” (we’re going to exempt Disney’s live action “Aladdin”). James Vanderbilt provides the writing (whose filmography is a bit more mixed with the slasher friendly “Scream” reboots under his belt, but also having written films like “The House with a Clock in Its Walls” and “Murder Mystery.”

“Fountain of Youth” premieres on Apple TV+ on May 23, 2025.
