Since April 1st has passed and this story is still kicking around we feel confident that it isn’t a prank. It’s been confirmed for a while that Quentin Tarantino wrote a script for a sequel to his 2019 film “Once Upon A Time…In Hollywood.” He originally planned to make it as his final film but this is Hollywood and nothing is done until it’s done.
Now it looks like “Once Upon A Time…In Hollywood 2” may happen after all but with David Fincher directing.

“Once Upon A Time…In Hollywood 2”
It is being reported that Brad Pitt, who won his first Oscar playing Cliff Booth, got Tarantino’s blessing to show Fincher the script. The story will allegedly focus on the subsequent adventures of Cliff. Hence Pitt’s proactive involvement in wanting to get it made, and a good sign he wants to reprise his role.
This is where it gets weird, Fincher is currently exclusive to Netflix.
So if he did direct “Once Upon A Time…In Hollywood 2,” it would be backed and distributed by the streamer. This is where there is some serious doubt about this story considering Tarantino vocally hates online streaming. But there is no way Netflix would pay to make a movie they don’t get some exclusive streaming rights on.
Given Fincher’s reputation, it’s possible Tarantino trusts his judgment enough to deal with Netflix. (This is all assuming that Fincher wants to sign on.) Even if Fincher passes, Tarantino letting other directors look at the script does heavily imply he is open to someone else taking it on. Only time will tell which way this goes.
Either way, Tarantino did add a lot to the mythos with “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood: A Novel.” So even if a sequel doesn’t pan out, there is still more Cliff Booth.
We’ll keep you posted on updates about the sequel if/when they become available.
