“Triangle of Sadness” director Ruben Östlund is back with another dark satire. His upcoming film, “The Entertainment System is Down” has officially started shooting in Budapest!
The project has also added Connor Swindells (“Barbie”), Daniel Webber (“Billy The Kid”), Wayne Blair (“Total Control”), Dan Wyllie (“Go Karts”), Lindsay Duncan, and Allan Corduner (“Family”) to the cast. Alongside Sofia Tjelta Sydness (“Delete Me”), Erin Ainsworth (“I’ll Play Mother”), Myles Kamwendo (“Boarders”), Sanna Sundqvist (“Thank You, I’m Sorry”), Elle Piper, Tea Stjärne, and Swedish artist Benjamin Ingrosso.

They will join the previously announced Kirsten Dunst (“Civil War”), Daniel Brühl (“Eden”), Keanu Reeves (“John Wick”), Nicholas Braun (“Saturday Night”), Samantha Morton (“The Whale”), and Tobias Menzies (“Manhunt”).
“The Entertainment System is Down,” is set on a long-haul flight between England and Australia when the entertainment system… goes down. This forces the passengers to face their worst fear, being bored.
It will be shot over 70 days from January to May in Hungary, on a set built around a real Boeing 747.
It is produced by Sweden’s Plattform Produktion, Essential Films from Germany, and France-based Parisienne de Production. BBC Film, Film i Väst, Sveriges Television, ZDF/ARTE, ARTE France Cinéma, SF Studios will co-produce with Norway’s Eye Eye Pictures and Denmark’s Paloma Productions. Given all the backers we think it’s safe to assume this will have international distribution.
We’ll keep you posted on updates about “The Entertainment System is Down” as they become available.
