Christopher Judge Responds to “God of War” ‘News’ Rumors

We enjoy the “God of War” gaming franchise here at Nerdbot. The original games with their stylish, aggressive combat, and the older Kratos series that relies more on storytelling and over-the-shoulder combat and puzzle solving. We also can’t deny that the newer take on the Ghost of Sparta has really brought us in thanks to the musical work of Emmy winner Bear McCreary, and the performance of Christopher Judge. When Judge talks, we listen, and he recently set the record straight on rumors regarding upcoming “God of War franchise news and announcements.

Rumors are NOT news, but sometimes a leak has a hint of truth to it. One X (formerly Twitter) user was under the impression Judge was going to be dropping some announcements about the franchise in the next two weeks. The user went so far was to say outright “Christopher Judge teases multiple God of War announces in the next two weeks.”

Let’s be honest, Sony hasn’t exactly been having a great time recently. Their “Until Dawn” remaster sank like a stone, largely because no one asked for it. Their “Concord” title may go down as one of the most expensive bombs in entertainment history. Surely, no one would like to report some good news more than Sony right now about a beloved franchise like “God of War.”

There’s just one problem. We’ll let Judge handle it-

Absolutely not true! You can’t tease something you know nothing about. I will be making announcements in the near future, I can guarantee none of them will be about OUR beloved God of War. I am awaiting updates just like everyone else. ❤️ https://t.co/CNPWcmnXCW

A couple of key takeaways from that. First, the emphasis on “OUR beloved God of War” franchise just feels great to read coming from Judge. His performance is impeccable but the obvious pride he has for the series is on another level of awesomeness. He also throws in the heart at the end which is an impeccable way to shoot down a rumor while still being considerate.

So, probably a safe bet he’s not going to be confirming any kind of involvement in Prime Video’s upcoming “God of War” live-action television series.

Sony needs something to reinvigorate itself, and if that leads to another high-quality Kratos video game adventure, so be it. Whatever may be in store for the beloved franchise, we’ll make sure to keep our Leviathan Axes and Blades of Chaos sharpened until the next epic outing.
