Player 456 Returns in “Squid Game” Season 2 Trailer

Netflix has released a new trailer for the second season of “Squid Game,” directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk. Viewers will re-enter the arena alongside our ol’ pal Player 456 aka Seong Gi-hun (played by Lee Jung-jae). The upcoming season will take place three years after he won the lethal series of children’s games.

    Season 2

The new trailer opens with masked guards welcoming a (mostly) new group of competitors to the sinister games where they will fight to the death for a huge cash prize. We see them playing the familiar childhood game Red Light Green Light. Except in this version players must move toward the finish line while a giant mechanical doll has its back turned. Once it turns, they must freeze or risk being shot to death.

Given that Gi-hun barely survived this game in the first season he tries to coach the group on how to do it safely. Despite his efforts at least one person is killed when she moves around after being told a bee has landed on her.

Like the first season of “Squid Game,” the players get to vote to stop the competition or keep going. Gi-hun desperately pleads with them to vote to stop it and get out as soon as they can. But the other contestants ignore his pleas and rightfully question why he’d come crawling back.

When a giant clear piggy bank drops from the ceiling and begins to fill with the prize money, the players seal the deal and begin to chant, “One more game!”

    “Squid Game”

Season one of “Squid Game” quickly became a cultural phenomenon. Turning it into one of Netflix‘s series ever, being streamed by 111 million users in its first 28 days.

The second season of “Squid Game” will hit Netflix on December 26th, 2024. Netflix has also confirmed that the third and final season will premiere sometime in 2025. You can watch the new trailer for season 2 below:
