If you were a child in the 1990s, you probably read one or two of R.L. Stine’s many “Goosebumps” novels. While the book series is still going strong with loads of spin-offs, the franchise has been pushing more into movies and television. Disney+ and Hulu released the first trailer for the newest addition “Goosebumps: The Vanishing” at New York Comic Con (NYCC).
“Goosebumps: The Vanishing”
The upcoming series centers around twins Cece (Jayden Bartels) and Devin Brewer (Sam McCarthy). The siblings are sent to Gravesend, Brooklyn to spend the summer with their father Anthony (David Schwimmer). The only major rule is dad’s house is not to go into the basement where the former botany professor keeps his high-tech lab equipment.
Soon after the trailer reveals that the twins’ uncle went missing with a group of kids in 1994. The mystery of their vanishing is still told among local teens who believe they “were killed by ghosts.” When Anthony’s request to release evidence in his brother’s disappearance to him is finally fulfilled he starts investigating. At least until something jumps off of it and begins crawling under his skin, infecting him with a sinister symbiotic organism.
Meanwhile, more kids start to go missing, and it’s up to the twins to stop whatever is going on in Gravesend.
“Goosebumps: The Vanishing,” will also star Ana Ortiz, Elijah M. Cooper, Galilea La Salvia, Francesca Noel, and Stony Blyden.
This eight-episode series is based on several books in Stine’s series including “Stay Out of the Basement,” “The Haunted Car,” “Monster Blood,” “The Girl Who Cried Monster,” “The Ghost Next Door,” and “Welcome to Camp Nightmare.”
“Goosebumps: The Vanishing,” hits Disney+ and Hulu on January 10th, 2025. You can check out the first trailer below:
