Fresh off winning the Audience Award at the Toronto Film Festival for “Life of Chuck,” director Mike Flanagan is adapting YET ANOTHER Stephen King property. This time, he will be putting his spin on the much-loved 1974 novel “Carrie.”
Flanagan will be developing the novel into an 8-episode series for Prime Video.

“Carrie,” tells the story of a sheltered teenage girl with an overly religious and domineering mother. She is tormented by her peers at school and told she is born of sin at home. All while dealing with discovering she has telekinetic powers. Abilities that are fully realized when one final act of bullying sends her over the edge at prom.
The story was first adapted into a film in 1976 directed by Brian De Palma, starring Sissy Spacek and John Travolta. It was followed by “The Rage: Carrie 2” in 1999, then a 2002 television movie, and a remake in 2013 starring Chloe Grace Moretz and Julianne Moore.
Flanagan and Trevor Macy will be executive producers of the series. This will be the third King property that Flanagan has adapted following “Doctor Sleep,” “Gerald’s Game,” and “Life of Chuck.”
We will keep you posted on updates about the “Carrie” Amazon series as they become available.
