We have another cast announcement for Sony’s upcoming “I Know What You Did Last Summer” sequel. Billy Campbell (“The Rocketeer,” “Helix“) has officially signed on!

He will be joined by the previously announced Chase Sui Wonders, Madelyn Cline, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers, and Jonah Haur-King. Alongside the now-confirmed Freddie Prinze Jr.  (“The Girl in the Pool”), after a lot of drama over his return. Fellow legacy cast member Jennifer Love Hewitt is also still in talks to return but nothing is offical just yet.

Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (“Do Revenge”) directs from a script co-written with Sam Lansky. Their screenplay is based on a draft by Leah McKendrick (“Scrambled”). Neal Moritz is attached to produce.

“I Know What You Did Last Summer”

At this time very little is known about the plot. The original 1997 film is based on the 1973 novel of the same name by Lois Duncan. It tells the story of four friends who accidentally run over a pedestrian. Panicked, they decide to dispose of the body in the ocean and vow never to speak of the incident again. That is, until a year later when the group starts getting cryptic messages about their dark secret. Eventually, they get killed off one by one by a mysterious person armed with a hook.

This will be the 4th film in the franchise alongside 1998’s “I Still Know What You Did Last Summer” and 2006’s “I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer.” As well as an Amazon Prime Video series that launched in 2021.

“I Know What You Did Last Summer” is slated to hit theaters July 18th, 2025. We’ll keep you posted on updates about the project as they become available.
