Universal has released the first teaser trailer for its upcoming horror movie “Wolf Man.” The film is directed by Leigh Whannell from a script co-written with Rebecca Angelo, Lauren Schuker Blum, and Corbett Tuck. Making this Whannell’s second foray into the world of Universal monsters after 2020’s “The Invisible Man”

“Wolf Man,” stars Christopher Abbott (“It Comes at Night”) as Blake, a San Francisco man who inherits his remote childhood home in Oregon. After his father mysteriously vanishes and is presumed dead. With his marriage to wife Charlotte (Julia Garner) crumbling, he persuades her to take a break and visit the place with their daughter, Ginger (Matlida Firth).

This plan to unwind and reconnect goes awry on their first night there when they’re attacked by an unseen animal. The family decides to barricade themselves in the home as some kind of protection against this beast prowling their land. But as the night wears on, a new issue arises, Blake begins to behave strangely, transforming into something… else. Forcing Charlotte to decide where the real danger lies, inside or out in the woods.

While we don’t see the monster in the teaser trailer, we do get a sense of the tone and feel of the new film. Which is intense, and what little carnage is shown is graphic.

“Wolf Man,” also stars Sam Jaeger (“The Handmaid’s Tale”), Ben Prendergast (“The Sojourn Audio Drama”), and Benedict Hardie (“The Invisible Man”).

The film is done in partnership between Universal and Blumhouse. It’s executive produced by Whannell, Ryan Gosling, Ken Kao, Bea Sequeira, and Mel Turner.

“Wolf Man” hits theaters on January 17th, 2025. You can check out the first teaser trailer below:
