Just because Vincent D’Onofrio plays Kingpin in the Marvel Cinematic Universe doesn’t mean he can’t check out some DC Comics properties. During a panel at this year’s Dragon Con, the actor explained how he’d love to play Swamp Thing in the rebooted DC Cinematic Extended Universe (DCEU).
“These days, I don’t know why – I don’t if you guys are into DC like I am. Obviously, I like Marvel, too, because that’s my job. My comic books when I was a kid was Captain America, Spider-Man, Swamp Thing. Swamp Thing. I would really like to play Swamp Thing.”
The DCEU ended in 2023 with plans to relaunch under new co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran. In January of 2023, a slew of projects were announced as part of “Chapter 1, “Gods and Monsters.” One of these projects is a new big-screen version of Swamp Thing directed and written by James Mangold. However, a firm release date has not been set and there are little to no updates on the film.
It’s assumed that delays are due to scheduling conflicts with Mangold, who is also directing an upcoming “Star Wars” film.
Only time will tell if Mangold’s Swamp Thing film comes to fruition, but D’Onofrio is one hell of a fan cast. You can check out the clip below:
