Jagged Edge Productions’ Poohniverse just keeps growing. The latest addition to the land of twisted public domain characters is “Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare.” Putting the boy who never grew up in with other horror adaptations like Winnie the Pooh, Bambi, and Pinocchio.
“Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare” is directed by Scott Jeffrey who co-wrote the script alongside Rhys Frake-Waterfield. Until this point, Frake-Waterfield has been primarily responsible for writing and directing within the Poohniverse. Including the upcoming film, “Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble,” which combines all of the universe’s bloodthirsty characters in a battle royal we didn’t know we needed.
“Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare”’s Plot
The movie will center around Wendy Darling (Megan Placito) as she sets out to try to rescue her brother Michael (Peter DeSouza-Feighoney) from the clutches of the evil Peter Pan (Martin Portlock). Along the way she meets Tinkerbell (Kit Green), who takes heroin that she believes is pixie dust.
“This is tonally an extremely darker film to Winnie-The-Pooh: Blood and Honey,” Jeffrey told Bloody Disgusting. “When dealing with children being abducted, it felt right. All of the films from our Poohniverse will feel different from the last. So, if one isn’t for you, then maybe the next will be. Peter Pan is the most vicious of them all. He is twisted, cruel and cunning.”
The film is loosely based on the titular character in J.M. Barrie’s 1902 novel. Despite a very shiny wholesome polish job by Disney’s 1953 animated adaptation. Peter Pan was a bit of a homicidal monster in the book. Which makes the character almost tailor-made for a straight-up horror twist on the story.
The cast also includes Nicholas Woodeson, Kierston Wareing, Olumide Olorunfemi, Teresa Banham, Charity Kase, and Campbell Wallace.
“Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare,” is expected to hit theaters in early 2025. We’ll keep you posted on updates about this project as it develops. You can check out the first trailer below:
