No Halloween party can be completed without decorating a home with carved pumpkins. But you can’t decorate a carved pumpkin without decorating it with lighting. Before you shop for decorative lighting for the pumpkins at the Halloween costumes superstore, the first step is to carve them. Let’s check the following step-by-step guide to carve and decorate the pumpkins with lighting:

    #HalloweenCostumesSuperstore

    Part 1: Carve the Pumpkin

Here is how to carve the pumpkin:

    • Step 1: The first step is to cover the place in newspapers or a garbage bag to protect your space from any spills or messes you will make.
    • Step 2: Now, place the pumpkin in the garbage bag. Using a serrated knife, cut the top of the pumpkin to make a lid. If you are unable to cut roughly, you can draw a 2-inch or 5.1-cm circle with a washable marker to get an idea. Now, tilt the knife blade at a 45-degree angle toward the stem. After tilting the knife, push the blade into the pumpkin to remove the lid.
    • Step 3: The next step is scooping out the seeds and emptying the pumpkin plump for curving.
    • Step 4: To carve the pumpkin, follow the below-mentioned steps:
    • Draw a free-hand design on the pumpkin with a washable marker. You can use a stencil to make the design. Use push pins or tape to fix the stencil paper on the pumpkin.
    • Now, cut the outline according to the stencil. If you need to improve with stencil cutting, you can use cookie cutters to make simple designs.
    • You can use a drill to create a dotted pattern to make the lighting ball out of the pumpkin.
    • Also, make sure to rub petroleum jelly around the cut edges of the pumpkin so that it won’t be exposed to the air and will not develop mold quickly. Petroleum jelly will form a protective layer over exposed skin to keep mold and bacteria out of the pumpkin.

    Part 2:

After curving the pumpkins, it’s time to visit the Halloween Superstore to check out the lighting systems according to the designs and shop for them. You can buy candles, battery-powered lights, or LED lights. Now, it’s time for the second part, which is decorating the pumpkins with lights. Let’s dig into it.

    For Candle Decoration

If you are going to use candles (traditional way of lighting) to light the pumpkin, then follow these steps:

    • Step 1: If you have a pumpkin with a simple base hole, you can start by lighting the candle and placing it straight over it.
    • Step 2: If you have carved the pumpkin with a top lid, you will need to place a non-lit candle in the pumpkin via the lid space.
    • Step 3: After placing the candle, light it with a matchstick or lighter. It will help you protect yourself from burning.
    • Step 4: Create a chimney hole inside the pumpkin to release the candle heat without damaging it. You can use a lid-cutter saw to cut out the pumpkin’s top and remove pieces to make way for the heat.

    For Battery-Powered Light Decoration

Battery-powered lights can be the best, inexpensive, and safest option for those worried that candle or flame-related decorations can harm pets or kids. To decorate the pumpkins, the following steps will help you:

    • As you know, different battery-powered lights are available in the market. You can visit The Glendale Halloween store to check out the lights.
    • Opt for regular white glows, red glows, or lights that mimic candle flickering in the pumpkin.
    • You can choose rainbow glow lights to decorate your pumpkins with kid-friendly options.
    • For those who want to add spooky effects, opt for red lights to turn your pumpkin into the monster’s face.

You can use the pumpkin holes to add a lighting effect to the pumpkins.

For Other Types Of Lighting Decorations

If you are one of those who wants to try something new, you can be more creative and use other lights like:

    • flashlights
    • lamp lights
    • ball light
    • LED Lights

But if you are using corded lighting systems, make sure you tuck away the cords and wires. If you use LED lights (lights made for headlamps, bikes, or cars), you can give your pumpkin cool effects, like scary teeth or horror faces.

If you are using ball lights for the pumpkins, set them up by turning the lights on and placing them inside the pumpkin.

This is how you can decorate the pumpkins with different lighting systems. Moreover, if you are looking for a Costume Store Nearby to buy lighting systems, costumes, and more, the Glendale Halloween Store is the best place to shop now!
