Director Tina Romero, daughter of the late George A. Romero (“Night of The Living Dead”), will be making her feature film debut with “Queens Of The Dead.” Romero and Erin Judge co-wrote the script for the upcoming queer zombie film.

    The Cast

“Queens Of The Dead” will star Katy O’Brian (“Love Lies Bleeding”), 5-time Grammy nominee Margaret Cho (“Fire Island”), Brigette Lundy-Paine (“I Saw The TV Glow”), and Cheyenne Jackson (“American Horror Story”). Along with Nina West (“RuPaul’s Drag Race”), Jaquel Spivey (“Mean Girls”), Tomas Matos (“Space Cadet”), and Quincy Dunn-Baker (“No Hard Feelings”). As well as Becca Blackwell (“Bros”), Shaunette Renée Wilson (“Black Panther”), Dominique Jackson (“Pose”), Riki Lindhome (“Knives Out”), and Eve Lindley (“National Anthem”).

    “Queens Of The Dead“‘s Plot

This new horror comedy will center around a group of drag queens and club kids battling zombies during an outbreak at a show in Brooklyn. They will need to put personal conflicts aside and utilize their distinct abilities to survive the undead threat.

“Queens Of The Dead” will pay tribute to old-school zombies like father’s film. However, it will do so with a fresh, contemporary, and queer twist. With social inequality being a common theme in the subgenre, it sounds like “Queens” will fit right in.

“This is the cast of my wildest dreams,” Romero said. “In a movie about survival, you gotta love and root for the survival crew. Every single person in this ensemble brings such a special and specific flavor -both on and off screen. The result is truly a magic sauce.”

“I’ve been obsessed with this script and Tina’s vision from the moment that I read it,” added producer Natalie Metzger. It’s so incredibly fun and unique. This film is not just a continuation of the Romero legacy but a fresh take that is sure to captivate a new generation of horror fans.”

There is currently no set release date for “Queens Of The Dead.” We’ll keep you posted on updates about this project as they become available.
