Golden Lasso Games is at it again with their new tabletop role-playing game, “Starscape.” This sci-fi adventure has you play as a member of a starship crew journeying through space. You and your teammates will bond through adversity and grow into each other’s found-family.

The project hit Kickstarter on July 9th, and was fully funded in the first 27 hours!

    The Game

In game, you build your ship and crew, then play to find out if your characters trust each other enough to unite for a shared purpose. Most gaming sessions focus on exploration, overcoming obstacles, or facing threats. With the overarching stories focus on how the crew’s trust in each other changes throughout their travels.

“Starscape” draws inspiration from iconic franchises like “Star Trek,” “Farscape,” “Firefly,” “Battlestar Galactica,” “Babylon 5,” and “A Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet” by Becky Chambers. And the best part is, unlike its inspirations, no network can prematurely cancel your story.

    Developing “Starscape”

This game is created by a woman-owned indie TTRPG company, with a diverse creative team comprised of women, BIPOC, and non-binary folks. The game is built on the Powered by the Apocalypse engine, with enhancements that tailor it to found-family space stories.

The result is a highly adaptable TTRPG that lets players select their own flavor of science fiction. Players can do anything from utopian exploration to post-apocalyptic, to space opera, to retrofuture. The only limit is your imagination!

While the Kickstarter has already raised $19,130, surpassing its goal of $12,000, there are still plenty of stretch goals for even more world-building fun. You can donate to the project here, and check out some of the absolutely gorgeous artwork in action below:
