Director John Woo is known for his gorgeous and tense action films, including 1989’s “The Killer.” Woo is remaking his Hong Kong classic for Peacock, and the streamer just released the first pulse-pounding trailer.

“The Killer” Reimaging
Both the original and reimagining center around an assassin trying to make amends and restore a singer’s vision. The upcoming version stars Nathalie Emmanuel (“Game of Thrones”) as Zee, an infamous and mysterious assassin, earning her the nickname Queen of the Dead in the Parisian underworld.
While on assignment with her mentor/handler Finn (Sam Worthington), in a Paris nightclub, Zee refuses to kill a blind woman, Jenn (Diana Silvers). This refusal destroys Zee’s alliances, attracting the attention of police investigator Sy (Omar Sy). All of this plunges her into a criminal conspiracy that will set Zee on a collision course with her past.

The cast also includes Eric Cantona (“Elizabeth”), Tchéky Karyo (“GoldenEye”), and Grégory Montel (“Transatlantic”).
“The Killer” is written by Oscar winner Brian Helgeland (“L.A. Confidential”), and directed by Woo. It is produced by Oscar winner Charles Roven and Alex Gartner for Atlas Entertainment. Alongside Woo and Lori Tilkin deFelice for Better Tomorrow Films. Terence Chang and Robin Fisichella will executive produce.
“The Killer” will debut exclusively on Peacock on August 23rd. You can check out the first trailer below:
