Warner Bros Pictures and Apple Films just released the first teaser trailer for the upcoming racing drama “F1.” The new movie is directed by Joseph Kosinski (“Top Gun: Maverick”) from a script by Ehren Kruger (“Dumbo”). The project is done in collaboration with Formula 1.

“F1,” 2025 (Warner Bros. Pictures and Apple Films)

“F1” centers around former race car driver Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt) as he stages a professional comeback as a member of the fictional Formula 1 team APXGP.

Pitt said his character was a racer in the 1990s who had a “horrible crash” so he “craps out and disappears.” Then explained that Javier Bardem stars in the film as the owner of a last-place team. “They’re 21-22 on the grid — they’ve never scored a point,” Pitt said. “But they have a young phenom, played by Damson Idris, and they bring me in as kind of a Hail Mary and high jinks ensue.”

    “F1” Cast

Bardem, Idris, and Pitt star alongside, Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies (“Outlander“), Sarah Niles, Kim Bodnia, and Samson Kayo.

“F1” was mostly shot during the real-life Grand Prix weekends with several of the top names in the sport present. Pitt and Idris were able to pose for photos with drivers Max Verstappen and Carlos Sainz while filming at the British Grand Prix last July.

Producers include Pitt, Jerry Bruckheimer, Chad Oman, and F1 legend Lewis Hamilton.

Oh, and Hans Zimmer is handling the score.

“F1” cruises into theaters on June 27tth, 2025. We’ll keep you posted on more updates about the project as it develops. You can check out the first teaser trailer below. [Editor’s note: for some reason, the Formula 1 channel’s official posting of the video isn’t embedable (which already has 2.7 million views!).]
