The 40th President of the United States, Ronald Reagan, will be getting his own biopic titled, “Regan.” The late Republican leader will be played by Dennis Quaid (“The Substance”). The film is directed by Sean McNamara (“Miracle Season”) from a script by Howard Klausner (“God’s Not Dead: A Light in Darkness”) and Jonas McCord (“The Body”).

“Reagan” will follow the former President’s life from birth to death. It will focus heavily on his political rise and opposition to the Soviet Union.

“I’ve always been told bits and pieces of the stories of Ronald Reagan’s life, but this movie puts the whole story together,” Quaid said about his role. “I’ve played quite a few real people over the years, and I like to play them from their point of view, without judgment. It was a big challenge for me to get behind the public persona of the man and also to move beyond my own feelings of admiration for him.”

    The Cast

The cast for “Regan” also includes Jon Voight (“Megalopolis”), Penelope Ann Miller (“Monster”), and Mena Suvari (“Prey”). Alongside David Henrie (“Max & Me”) and Emmy-Nominee Kevin Dillon (“Mod Land”).

It will also be the big screen debut for Creed’s lead singer Scott Stapp who will play…*checks notes*…Frank Sinatra!?

“Regan” will be the debut release for ShowBiz Direct, a new studio headed by Kevin Mitchell and former Lionsgate distribution president Richie Fay.

“We are honored for the opportunity to launch ShowBiz Direct with ‘Reagan,’ and the cast does such an amazing job in this movie,” Mitchell said. “Our team is ready to show the creative and exhibition communities that we want to work with you to put movies on the big screen where they belong.”

“Regan” will be released on August 30th, 2024. You can check out the first trailer below:
