Chris Hemsworth to Lead Transformers/G.I. Joe Crossover Movie

It’s a bright day here. Aside from other news, we have word of the next possible larger-than-life franchise the one and only Chris Hemsworth may be leading. In case you didn’t know, the Aussie recently co-stared in George Miller‘s 5th post-apocalyptic installment, “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.” In it, he plays a bearded villain, who is anything but run of the mill.

So of course the question of “what’s next” for him has been on everyone’s mind. Word from various sources is he’ll be headed for a big one. Earlier this year, Paramount Pictures confirmed a “Transformers“-“G.I. Joe” crossover movie is in the works. The concept for the film comes from storyline published by Marvel Comics in the 1980s. Paramount Pictures CEO Brian Robbins confirmed the project at CinemaCon in Las Vegas.

Hemsworth is reportedly in talks to star in it! Before you get too excited about that, keep in mind that he is voicing Optimus Prime in “Transformers One,” so. He might just be continuing that role.

Legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg will be executive producing. There is no set director at this time, despite the idea coming from “Rise of the Beasts” director Steven Cape Jr. “Transformers” producer Lorenzo Di Bonaventura is returning with Mark Vahradian, Michael Bay, Tom DeSanto, and Don Murphy to produce.

We’ll let you know what we hear about this and other news. “Furiosa” is in theaters now, you should absolutely go see it.

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
