“The Death of Robin Hood” hit the Cannes Film Festival market earlier this month. The movie is set to star Oscar-nominee Hugh Jackman (“Deadpool & Wolverine”) and Jodie Comer (“Killing Eve”). With director Michael Sarnoski (“A Quiet Place: Day One”) in the big chair, it was expected to be one of the hottest titles there.
A24 Films has landed the US rights to “The Death of Robin Hood.”

The Plot
This movie will be a darker reimagining of the classic tale. It will be a period piece where Robin Hood grapples with his past after a life of crime and murder. Becoming a battle-worn loner who finds himself gravely injured and in the hands of a mysterious woman who offers him a chance at salvation.
After a highly competitive bidding war, A24 nabbed the rights to release it theatrically in the US. Producers for the film include Aaron Ryder and Andrew Swett via their Ryder Picture Company banner. Alongside Alexander Black for Lyrical Media, the company fully financed “The Death of Robin Hood.” Jon Rosenberg and Natalie Sellers will executive produce for Lyrica with Sarnoski, Jackman, and Rama Gottumukkala.

You can catch Jackman in “Deadpool & Wolverine” hitting theaters on July 26th. Comer will also star in the upcoming film “The Bikeriders,” with Austin Butler and Tom Hardy, hitting theaters on June 21st. You can check out the trailers for both films below.
Production on “The Death of Robin Hood” is expected to begin in 2025. We’ll keep you posted on updates about the project as they become available.
