The Anaheim City Council officially approved the Disneyland Forward expansion in early May. The proposal outlined a 40-year agreement for future developments for the park. While many have speculated what the first attraction in the expansion could be, it will be the “Avatar” Experience.

Disney CEO Bob Iger has confirmed the first attraction to be part of the Disneyland Forward expansion is the “Avatar” Experience. The themed land will be similar to the one in Disney’s Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World in Florida. Iger confirmed the attraction during a summit on Wednesday, May 15th. At this time there are no specific details on how this attraction will differ from it’s Florida counterpart.
“We have just gotten approval from the city of Anaheim for the biggest expansion of Disneyland since we opened DCA (Disneyland California Adventure) in 2001,” Iger said. “It’s a huge expansion. We haven’t been specific about what’s going to be in it, except for ‘Avatar.‘”
There is still a lot unknown surrounding what will officially be added to the park through the expansion. It’s likely details about the area will be revealed during D23 event taking place August 9th through 11th. Disneyland Forward has teased some themed experiences from several properties like “Encanto,” “Zootopia,” “Tangled,” and “Black Panther.”
