Actor and consummate fanboy Nicolas Cage will become your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man once again in a new Amazon series. “Noir” will be a live-action show based on the “Spider-Man Noir” Marvel comic and “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” character voiced by Cage. The project has been in development with Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios for about a year.

“Noir” revolves around an aging, down-on-his-luck, private investigator (Cage) in 1930s New York. He goes on a journey that forces him to grapple with his past life as the city’s one and only superhero.

    But Wait, There’s More…

“Expanding the Marvel universe with Noir is a uniquely special opportunity and we are honored to bring this series to our global Prime Video customers,” Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios, said. “The extremely talented Nicolas Cage is an ideal choice for our new superhero and the accomplished producing team with Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, Amy Pascal and the incredible team at Sony is dedicated to expanding this franchise in the most authentic way.”

This series will be part of a bigger Marvel universe Amazon is building, since it is also developing “Silk: Spider Society” with Angela Kang (“The Walking Dead”). This larger project is run by “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” producers Chris Miller and Phil Lord. Miller and Lord will executive produce “Noir” alongside showrunners Oren Uziel, Steve Lightfoot, and Amy Pascal.

Peni (Kimiko Glen), Spider-Gwen (Hailee Steinfeld), Spider-Ham (John Mulaney), Miles Morales (Shameik Moore), Peter Parker (Jake Johnson), Spider-Man Noir (Nicolas Cage) in Sony Pictures Animation’s SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE.

“We are absolutely thrilled to have Nicolas Cage starring in this series! No one else could bring such pathos, pain and heart to this singular character,” said Katherine Pope, president of Sony Pictures Television Studios. “Along with our brilliant producers and partners at Amazon MGM Studios and Prime Video, we couldn’t ask for a better team to explore this reimagining of such an iconic character in Sony’s Universe of Marvel Characters,”

Each episode of “Noir” and “Silk” will premiere on MGM+ (formerly Epix) before they debut on the streamer. Neither series has a release date yet. But we will keep you posted on updates as they become available.
