Just released was a graphic created by Visual Capitalist detailing the world’s top grossing media franchises of all time. You may be surprised at the order of the franchises because I for one thought Barbie would be towards the tippy top. Turns out I was wrong! Barbie is sitting at the very bottom of this graphic but they do say that the 2023 movie did not factor into this. So I’ll try to do that myself. The “Barbie Movie” raked in 1.45 billion U.S. dollars so that would put it at $26 billion and change. Still lower than the $27 billion dollar “Dragon Ball” franchise.

In order the top ranking franchises are:

    1. Pokémon $147 billion
    2. Hello Kitty $89 billion
    3. Winnie the Pooh $76 billion
    4. Mickey Mouse $74 billion
    5. Star Wars $70 billion
    6. Anpanman $56 billion
    7. Disney Princesses $46 billion
    8. Jump Comics $40 billion
    9. Mario $38 billion
    10. MCU $35 billion
    11. Harry Potter $32 billion
    12. Transformers $30 billion
    13. Spider-Man $29 billion
    14. Batman $28 billion
    15. Gundam $27 billion
    16. Dragon Ball $27 billion
    17. Barbie $26 billion and change with the movie’s Box Office total added in

What do you think about the ranking? Surprised? If you’re reading this having clicked on our Facebook post please comment what you think should be the top ranking franchise! Or, tell us your favorite one!
