Indie mascot horror games have been doing pretty well lately, so well they’re being turned into movies. “Five Nights At Freddy’s” had it first film after almost 10 years, and they’re already working on a sequel. BENDY is getting his own movie, which was announced on Christmas 2023 on the official BENDY X account. And now, MobEntertainment is throwing their hat in the video-game-turned-movie ring with “Poppy Playtime.”

Film studio Legendary Entertiainment is producing a “Poppy Playtime” movie alongside Don Murphy and Susan Montford of Angry Films. You read that right, the studio behind “Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire” is making a Huggy Wuggy movie. MobEntertainment confirmed the film deal on their official X account and explained the details on their website. It will be interesting to see Huggy, Kissy Missy, Mommy Long Legs, CatNap and the Smiling Critters, and Poppy on the big screen.

“When we first started this journey, we followed our passion and created a series of games and brands with the purpose of inspiring and entertaining. We’ve always dreamed big and are thrilled to have created something that has captured the hearts of tens of millions around the world,” said MobEntertainment co-founders Zach and Seth Belanger. “This movie deal is a great logical next step in the growth of our transmedia entertainment company.”

MobEntertainment first introduced the world to “Poppy Playtime” in 2021 and it took the world by storm. The story follow a former employee of Playtime Co. returning to the desolate toy factory due to a cryptic letter. Once inside the former employee is confronted by the vengeful toys inside. The third chapter of the game was released January 30th, 2024 and the fourth chapter is in development. Hopefully the game will be finished before the film moves into production.

We will follow this story and report as more news is released.
