Michelle Yeoh to Lead Amazon’s “Blade Runner” Series

We cannot express how wonderful it is to see the badass icon herself, Michelle Yeoh, conquering one beloved franchise after another. And, absolutely KILLING IT in genre work, as well as other films and projects. Most Westerners were introduced to her through the landmark cinematic event, “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,” as well as the 007 installment, “Tomorrow Never Dies” alongside Pierce Brosnan, Terri Hatcher, and Jonathan Pryce.

She most recently won an Oscar for her powerhouse turn in “Everything Everywhere All At Once,” and hasn’t slowed down since. Her “Star Trek: Discovery” character will lead the upcoming Paramount+ spinoff “Section 31,” but the thing that has us the most excited is what Amazon Prime Video has coming.

Announced back in 2021, a Ridley Scott-penned tv series based on his seminal 1982 film “Blade Runner” is coming. And, as we know now, Yeoh will star.

Details for the unnamed series are being kept super under-wraps, but we DO know Yeoh will be playing a Replicant named Olwen.

We will do our best to keep you updated on this and other news. You can pick up the most recent “Blade Runner” (The Final Cut) 4K on Amazon here, and the sequel “Blade Runner: 2049″ here.

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
