Apple is capitalizing on May the 4th with a new “Star Wars” themed iPhone ad. The spot centers around a cosplayer using the iPhone 15 to find his friends at a con. Because sometimes even Mandalorians need a helping hand.

Directed by Kim Gehrig (“Roar” the TV series), the spot tells the story of a Mandalorian cosplayer traversing the city on his way to a convention. He feeds his kitten Leia, before checking for the essentials like keys, phone, and a thermal detonator, before heading out. Our intrepid hero then drinks some boba tea while keeping his helmet on before catching the bus.

During the ride, he chats with his friends who are already at the con on his iPhone 15. When he finally reaches a galaxy far, far away, he is met with a sea of other cosplayers. How ever will he find his clan of fellow Mandalorians? The iPhone 15 “Precision Finding for Find My Friends” feature, that’s how!

    Easter Eggs

Once he finds his cohorts they dance with some in-sync head-bobs to Channel Tres’ “All My Friends,” which scores the entire ad. However, the lyric “5:02, past the curfew” is changed to “5:01,” as a nod to the 501st Legion fan group. Other easter eggs include a sign at the bus stop that reads “The first transport is away!” As well as a sign for “New Hope” street, along with plenty of other “Star Wars” references.

The new ad spot was done in partnership with Lucasfilm. The company received over 300 submissions for the commercial, with 172 fans being involved in its production. Making this the largest number ever for a project sanctioned by the company.

“Oh, it’s great. It still doesn’t feel real to me,” said Owen, lead actor/”Star Wars” fan. “It was just wonderful, really, being able to do all this.”

You can watch the full iPhone 15 ad below. May the 4th be with you.
