In March, things were finally starting to take shape for a long-rumored project regarding “The Office.” The beloved NBC sitcom has continued to amass a dedicated fanbase since its finale in 2013. Thanks in no small part to its popularity on streaming platforms, so a reboot or spin-off seemed inevitable. Those rumors finally turned into something greater when showrunner and creator of the American version of the program, Greg Daniels, was working on something new in-universe. He recruited “Nathan For You” co-creator Michael Koman to develop whatever this new show would be.
While it’s not a reboot or remake, this mystery series WILL be set in the Dunder-Mifflin universe.

According to the usual suspects, Domhnall Gleeson has joined the cast of the upcoming series. Maybe you know him as Bill Weasley from the “Harry Potter” films, or perhaps you know him as the phenomenally cranky General Hux from the most recent “Star Wars“ trilogy. Gleeson is also no stranger to television, having appeared in “Black Mirror,” “White House Plumbers,” and “Run.”

The other casting announcement is “The White Lotus” breakout Sabrina Impacciatore. He spent most of her career working in her native Italy, but received an Emmy nomination for her role as Valentina in the aforementioned second season of HBO’s critically acclaimed dark comedy series. As with Gleeson, her role in the upcoming “The Office” project is unknown.
There have been no official comments from Universal Television. Given how big this project is for them, the tight-lipped approach is no surprise. Given the casting, are we looking at “The Office: International?” Let’s get Catherine Tate (“Doctor Who“) and Idris Elba back in the mix if that’s the case and have ourselves a time!

We’ll let you know what we hear about this and other news. All seasons of the American version of “The Office“- including the extended superfan episodes- are available to stream on Peacock now.
