Things That Shouldn’t Exist But Do: Cup Noodles ‘Everything Bagel’

Ramen noodles are known for many things: being cheap, being full of more salt than a gallon of soy sauce, and being easy to cook and eat. One thing it’s not known for, is breakfast. Outside of college students who have little choice otherwise, you normally don’t see people downing ramen for the “most important meal of the day.” But you always could if you wanted to, and thanks to a bold new flavor from Cup Noodles, you just may have an excuse to microwave yourself some breakfast, ramen style.

In today’s entry into “Things That Shouldn’t Exist But Do,” the Everything Bagel Cup Noodles.

This is the everything bagel. Contrary to its name, it doesn’t quite have EVERYTHING, but it is loaded with various seeds and spices and the like. It tends to pair well with cream cheese, one of God’s greatest gifts to mankind and the city of Philadelphia. One may not expect for this pairing to be somehow condensed into noodle form and prepared as ramen, but that’s what’s happening in the current reality that we live in. In fact, parent company for Cup Noodles, Nissin Foods USA, says this provides an “unmatched bagel experience.” Considering that this is probably the only everything bagel with cream cheese noodle based product on the market, that quote actually does check out.

In fairness to Nissan Foods USA, there is some grounding in this potential insanity. Noodles and bagels are both grain-based products. And the spices used on an everything bagel aren’t that far removed from a ramen flavoring packet. While you don’t normally see microwave ramen with an alfredo sauce, that’s perfectly doable. And is a stone’s throw away from being a cream cheese sauce when you think about it. …If you want to think about it that is.

This isn’t Cup Noodles first breakfast flavor- they have done a sausage, eggs, pancakes, and maple syrup flavor. (Not to mention, Pumpkin Spice, and more.) While it may not be everyone’s cup of tea, er, noodles, if you do want to indulge, you can find it exclusively at Walmart and Walmart.com. For the record, this is the same massive retailer that also exclusively sold pizza flavored ice cream. We tried it. It was not as bad as you might think, but also not something you’d want to come back to time and again. As for the new everything bagel and cream cheese Cup Noodles though,
