JoJo Siwa Takes Credit for TWO “New” Songs by Other Artists

Jojo Siwa has been in the spotlight for some time now, but with her new album being released this year, she’s gained even more eyes. That’s in large part to her new look which fans are… wondering about. It’s definitely not something that we would have expected her to wear but as she’s coming into her own, she’s bound to make a few decisions that fans in the future would refer to as growing pains.

“Karma’s a Bitch” was the first big single that Jojo started hyping up from the album and it’s now been found out that it was first sung by an artist named Brit Smith. Smith released a music video on their YouTube channel yesterday, made to go with the song “Karma’s a Bitch.” A song recorded by her in 2012. The song was going to be released as a single, and was teased many times but eventually ended up getting scrapped. The song was also originally recorded by Miley Cyrus in 2011. 12 years later, the song was released by Jojo Siwa.

Another song on Siwa’s new album called “Choose Your Fighter” is suffering the same backlash. Not only because it was found to be created by another artist, but a queer singer/songwriter!

This video released on Jojo’s TikTok last week was seemingly from a listening party for Siwa’s new album, and included a clip from “Choose Your Fighter.”

“This song, I want you to listen for a very special ad lib,” Siwa said while introducing it. “‘Cause it is about one of my exes. And I will sure as hell point it out when that ad lib comes — don’t you worry. This next song is called ‘Choose Your Fighter.’”

Although Siwa didn’t directly say she wrote the song, fans interpreted what she did say about it as meaning that the song (not JUST the ad lib) was about her ex. And that didn’t make sense, as it was eventually recognized as a song by EMELINE. EMELINE commented on the post saying, “Hi 2024 fans, I’m going to make a storytime soon. I actually didn’t sign off on it coming out with Jojo (not her fault). If my version gets love, I can still put it out after hers. Thx for the support.

That was said on April 8th and there is still no sign of a storytime from EMELINE. Possibly because of red tape or her label saying that she needs to wait to make a statement. Or she just hasn’t had time yet.

People are speculating is that EMELINE sold the rights to her record label and the label sold it to Siwa. But if that was the case, Jojo still shouldn’t be going around implying that it was a creation of her own. It very well could be a mistake, she’s young and maybe doesn’t know the nuances of public speaking yet. But with her background being so well in the spotlight she really should have picked up some social skills. Literally the only thing Jojo added to the original song was the phrase, “You’re Welcome.” The problem is JoJo is acting like she wrote this and is saying it’s about her exes.

Jojo’s new album is set to be released May/June 2024. So far there’s not a set date.
