Grammy-winner Lizzo has been at the center of lawsuits alleging sexual harassment, discrimination, and creating a hostile work environment. The lawsuits became public knowledge in August 2023, and since then, have been the source of much criticism against the singer. Just last month, a judge denied her request to toss out one of the lawsuits. It is speculated that majority of that case will go on to trial later this year.

On March 30th, the singer took to her Instagram account and posted a statement saying she “quit.”

On April 2nd, Lizzo took to her Instagram account again to clarify what she meant when she said, “I quit.” She will continue making music, but she is no longer “giving any negative energy attention.” This comes after her statement claiming she is “constantly against lies being told” about her “for clout & views.” In the same statement she also claimed to “being the butt of the joke” due to her looks.

“What I’m not going to quit, is the joy of my life, which is making music, which is connecting to people because I know I’m not alone,” she says at the video start. “In no way, shape or form am I the only person who is experiencing that negative voice that seems to be louder than the positive.” Lizzo then goes on to say if she gave one person the inspiration to stand up to negative comments, she’d do more than she imagined.

She then said she would move forward “Feeling Good as Hell” and stay true to herself. She thanked her fans and followers for their support saying, “The love that I received means more than you know.” You can listen to her full statement down below.
