For years, the rumor mill has been churning about the possibility of NBC continuing its hit series “The Office.” Showrunner Greg Daniels recently confirmed he is working on a new series based in the world of Dunder Mifflin.
And now he is tapping “Nathan for You” co-creator Michael Koman to help develop the project.
Daniels and Koman will be working as co-creators on this currently untitled series which began development in January 2024. This early into the development phase it hasn’t even been greenlit to series by Universal Television. However, Daniels contends this is NOT a reboot of “The Office,” but it is set in the same universe. Fans speculate it will likely take place in a different office setting with an all-new cast of characters.
“The Office” was a mockumentary sitcom, that ran from 2005 to 2013. It is based on a British series of the same name created by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant. NBC’s version is set in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and follows the staff of the fictitious paper company Dunder Mifflin. Its ensemble cast includes Steve Carell, Rainn Wilson, John Krasinski, Jenna Fischer, Ed Helms, Mindy Kaling, and B.J. Novak.
We’ll keep you posted on updates about this continuation of “The Office” as they become available. You can catch the original series on NBC’s streaming service Peacock, including “Superfan” extended episodes!
