Hope you like “Game of Thrones,” because HBO is working on putting out yet another spinoff. This time the series will focus on Aegon Targaryen’s legendary conquest. “The Batman” writer Mattson Tomlin who is working on that upcoming sequel “The Batman Part II,” is heading to the world of dragons. Tomlin is reportedly developing a new series in the Song of Ice and Fire ‘verse.

While the series is currently untitled most outlets are just referring to it as “Aegon’s Conquest.” It will be a direct prequel to the hit spinoff “House of the Dragon,” and tell the story of the Targaryen’s brutal conquest of Westeros. The show focuses on Aegon Targaryen, as he conquers the continent with his sister wives, Rhaenys and Visenya, and their dragons. Under his reign six of the seven kingdoms were able to be reunited, with Dorne being the only holdout.
“Aegon’s Conquest,” is already being described as a “back to basics” approach to George R.R. Martin’s epic fantasy book series. Which is rather vague considering how sprawling the “Game of Thrones” universe has become between the books and tv series. Even though the first series ended in 2019, there doesn’t seem to be any lack of stories to tell.

“House of the Dragon” will return with a second season sometime this summer. There is also the upcoming “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight,” based on Martin’s “Tales of Dunk and Egg” series of novellas. And of course “SNOW,” which is being developed as a starring vehicle for Kit Harrington to make his return as Jon Snow/Aegon Targaryen.
There is no official window for when “Aegon’s Conquest” may start production. We’ll keep you updated about this and other news.
