Ewan McGregor: “Everyone Write to Disney” for More “Obi Wan”

It’s pretty great so see a performer who really enjoys their work. Even better is when it’s someone like Ewan McGregor, who OBVIOUSLY loves his character from a little independent film series called “Star Wars.” Obviously McGregor didn’t join the galaxy far, far away until the divisive prequels, debuting as the Jedi Master in “Star Wars: Episode I- The Phantom Menace.” But since then, 25 FREAKING YEARS AGO, he’s been able to revisit the part in Disney+’s series, “Obi Wan Kenobi.”

And you know what? He, like many of us, WANTS MORE.

Originally billed as a “limited series,” the project was pretty positively received by fans and critics alike. This of course started major conversations about what it would take for additional episodes or even another full season.

Well, it’s not just fans wanting more. Kenobi himself is sorta kinda leading the charge, and has some suggestions for how to maybe make that happen.

“Let’s hope they do another one,” McGregor said during a panel at MegaCon Orlando. “Can everyone write to Disney? I’ll give you some email addresses at the end, and just say, ‘Dear Disney, let’s a have a bit more of Obi-Wan Kenobi please.’

He also confirmed the series didn’t start as a multi-episode thing. “It was originally gonna be a movie, and I’ve often thought, should it have been a movie,” he posed as a question. “But I kind of think it’s great that they did it that way, and it’s a longer story, and hopefully, it’s more satisfying as a result. We got more time to weave a story.”

Here’s hoping we get more “Obi Wan Kenobi,” and therefor more Vivien Lyra Blair as young Princess Leia Organa. You can catch all episodes of the series on Disney+ now.

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
